This is a hack for Metroid. It improves the challenge level of the game considerably and alters the location of items and monsters. It also alters the layout of several areas in the game.

Metroid Remix v1.2
01/11/00 by Litmus Dragon
-------------------------
WHATS NEW?

v1.1 - Fixed a bug that was preventing the ice beam from appearing

v1.2 - * Title screen now says "Metroid Remix by Litmus Dragon"
* Fixed a bug which put the elevator out of Kraid's hideout in
the wrong place (and made it impossible to get back to Brinstar)
* Moved some things around in Norfair that were making jumps harder
than they should have been
* I've played completely through this version, it should be bug-free

v1.3 - * Changed the intro screen text and the end game text

WHAT IS THIS?

This is a hack for Metroid. Imagine an alternate Metroid with a slightly
higher difficulty level, new areas to explore, and the items and monsters in
new locations; this is what you have here.

HOW DO I USE THIS?

You'll need three things; an IPS patching program, a Nintendo emulator
(NESticle is probably best), and the Metroid ROM.

If this is unclear you can find more information about the first two subjects
at http://www.zophar.net (NESticle should be easy to find; do a search for
rom hacking or IPS to find out about the patching).

The ROM you will have to find yourself. I do not have the ROM nor do I know
where you can get it. I will not send it to you; please do not email me
asking me to do this.

WHATS BEEN HACKED?

Brinstar: Brinstar has the most changes. Most of the items and the entrance
to Kraid's lair have been hidden in new places. Also several new areas have
been added.

Norfair: Almost all of the items and the entrance to Ridley's lair have been
switched around or hidden in new locations. The layout is nearly identical
to the map in normal Metroid but the creatures are in different areas.

Kraid's Hideout: Kraid and most of the items have been moved. The layout
is a bit different than the original.

Ridley's Hideout: Ridley and most of the items have been hidden in new
locations. This area is larger than in the original but the layout is more
or less the same. Mini-Ridley has been hacked into the game (he didn't
appear in the original Metroid). He's located in the lower-left area of
the hideout.

Tourain: Nothing changed.

I made this hack using the amazing program Metedit, which can be found at:

My thanks to Ken Hansen for his program.

Enjoy!
