Breath Of Fire: Breath of Fire - Encounter Rate Fix

This hack fixes the encounter rate in Breath of Fire, so you can play the game with less interruptions by random battles. You can choose from two different patches:

Choose your preferred encounter rate:
- 01 Breath of Fire (less encounters)(-50%)
- 02 Breath of Fire (few encounters)(-75%)

Optional:
- Running & Double Exp and Gold. This will be useful when playing with a low encounter rate. You can also run by using the cancel button.

Please note that the Gown and SageML will still raise the encounter rate, so be aware when using those items.

You can combine the lower encounter rate patches with other Breath of Fire hacks, like FlamePurge's https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/6611/ hack. Be aware that the Running & Double Exp and Gold patch is NOT compatible with War of the Goddess. Use the Double Exp and Gold patch included with War of the Goddes instead.

Enjoy Breath of Fire once more, this time without the grind!

The first Breath of Fire game still has its fair share of dedicated fans since its release in the 90s. I have very fond memories of this game too.
After the first game the series reached new heights with its successors, though the original is still fun to play.
The release of the amazing "War of the Goddess" hack by Flamepurge inspired me to fix the high encounter rate of Breath of Fire, to make it less grindy to play through. In
combination with fast walk and double exp/gold, the game is even more on par with modern standards.

I included two patches that lower the encounter rate, one halves the encounter rate, the other turns it even further down to 1/4 of the original game.
It is recommended to use the "Breath of Fire - Double Exp and Gold.ips" patch when you lower the encounters, to prevent you from getting under leveled for the bosses.

Please note that SilverBR and MystSF will no longer lower the encounter rate. However, Gown and SageML will still raise the encounter rate. So, be aware when using these items!
Also note that encounters during the night are higher than during the day, this is in line with the original game.

You can combine the lower encounter rate patches with other hacks, like "War of the Goddess" by FlamePurge. Be aware that the Running & Double Exp and Gold patch is NOT compatible with
War of the Goddess. Use the Double Exp and Gold patch included with War of the Goddes instead.

And for the creators, feel free to use these patches in your own hacks (with credits).

*How to play*

1. You'll need a SNES emulator that is able to play Breath of Fire. SNES9X or Higan are good choices. You can also play the game on original hardware.
2. Download the correct Breath of Fire ROM (See the start of the ReadME, and use Google)
3. With http://www.romhacking.net/hash/ you can check whether you have the correct ROM.
4. Go to: https://www.romhacking.net/patch/ to patch the ROM. (the .ips file is the patch file)
5. Start the patched ROM in your emulator.
6. Have fun!
