Super Metroid: Ice Metal 1: Uninstall

Intro:

The great forces of the Galactic Federation Marine Corps were forced to evacuate planet Nerion III.
The issue was too big for them to handle, yet too big for the federation to ignore.
Therefore, once again, they had no choice but to turn to Samus Aran.
An extraordinary bounty hunter armed with the end-all-be-all of Chozo warfare and survival technology, her mission was simple:
"Venture into the deepest reaches of the planet and disable the Aurora Unit originally placed there for research."
But what vicious creatures lurk below the surface that can make even the fearless GFMC turn their backs and flee like sissies?

This is a ticket into the world of Ice Metal. Can you uncover the dark, deep secrets buried in Nerion III? Or will you die trying...?

Ice Metal is a Super Metroid hack that puts the focus on exploration, rather then raw skill. There are some new power ups and tricks you need to master in order to beat the game full out, but it mostly tries to stick to how hard the original game was.

There is one new move you need to learn to beat the game, which is mid air morphing.
How-to: Press down twice in mid air while holding jump button down.


Ice metal was made for everyone, not just experienced players, beginners, nor casual players. Rather, regardless of your experience with Super Metroid you can jump in and enjoy this hack.

This is also one of the few Super Metroid hacks that futures a major plot. It is generally set after fusion in a "what could happen after fusion" scenario.

Ice Metal comes in patch form and should be patched to a clean ROM of Super metroid USA/Japanese version.
Due to legal issues you will have to get the ROM yourself, as I nor anyone else can provide it legally for you.
If you can't dump it yourself then try using a online search tool to find one instead.

To use an IPS patch you will also need patching software, I recommend LunarIPS as it's free and easy to use.

RE-PALETTE:

Re palette is a patch you can apply to a ROM already patched with Ice Metal to get a new set of coloring for
most areas.

Q: When I start the game everything is glitchy when samus spawns!
A: You used the wrong patch, use the other one instead on a clean ROM.

Q: I don't know where to go, can you help me?
A: Ice Metal was designed to be quite open ended with exploration
in focus. There are some general hints on where to go provided
by the map stations, for anything else, ask a mate or just keep
exploring.

Q: Is there cake?
A: No, the cake is a lie, I ate it already!

Q: A room crashes when I enter it!?
A: This is most likely an emulator issue, try using another emulator
or another version of the same emulator.

Q: I got stuck after abusing game bugs and glitches!
A: Hahahahaha, have fun getting unstuck!

Ice Metal have been in the works for many years now,
so it's quite unbelievable for me to see that it is in
fact, done. The hack started out as just some shitty
concepts, but over time grew into a hack that puts the
focus on exploration, rather then skill.

It is to my hopes that not only will you as a player
enjoy this, but also that you as a designer will enjoy
this. Ice Metal was made from the vision of what I
wanted a hack to be like. But as I made it myself,
all the magic that comes with a new game is lost.
Therefor I hope that I inspired other people to make
not only more hacks, but more hacks like this one.
