This is a Halloween-themed hack that was started in 2019 and finished in 2022. There are 34 exits, spread across 5 worlds.

Story:

Dry Bowser has stolen the candies, and without them, people can't go trick-or-treating, because nobody has candy! It's up to Mario to defeat Dry Bowser and save Halloween!

The hack has 2 versions: an English version and a Portuguese version.

This is a Halloween-themed hack, which has been in the workd since 2019 and finished in 2022.

Because almost all Halloween-themed SMW hacks are either only one level or only one world long, in 2019 I started working on this hack.

This is not the first Halloween SMW hack with more than one world, as Super Mario Halloworld, a hack made by Andyana Jonseph and a couple other users, was going to have more than one. There was even a demo with the first world released on October 31, 2016, but it had some glitches that resulted in it getting rejected. The glitches found by the then-moderator were never fixed, and the hack got abandoned/canceled.

World 1 was made in 2019, world 2 in 2020, world 3 in 2021, and finally, both worlds 4 and 5 were made in 2022.

I originally wanted to put jumpscares in the later parts of the hack, but then after demo 1 was released, niko commented on the hack's page that he won't be playing this hack if I did that. Due to that, the jumpscares idea has been scrapped to make him happy.

V1.1 (31/10/2022):

* Changed and nerfed some parts on Castle #2. This includes changing a part near the start with spikes on the ceiling with a floating platform, replacing the part with the spike on 1F0 tiles with a simpler setup (due to some streamers mistaking the spike with a platform, causing them to die), teaching how to get past the part with the 1-tile wide holes, and adding some yellow ! blocks.
* Added yellow ! blocks to some bonus sublevels of Rotten Ruins levels.
* Fixed another grammar error (a word was missing a letter) on one of the messages of Pumpkin Fields 1 in the Portuguese version. This was reported by AntonioDosGames.
* Replaced all remaining vanilla ON/OFF switches with bounceless versions.
* Fixed the goal sublevel of Bowser's Mountain 2 where it was playing the wrong music, as the main level's music was changed between beta 1.0 and version 1.0.
* Replaced the Boo Rings in Rotten Ruins 3, Abanoned Mine 2 and Abanoned Mine A with custom versions. Each Boo Ring now has 4 Boos, making these levels easier. The former level was also nerfed a bit. And in Abanoned Mine 2, the Boos are now slightly faster.
* Fixed an oversight with the secret exit of Abandoned Mine 1 where Abandoned Mine A would be missing the revealed ground. This could happen if the level was revealed without going through the shortcut in world 2 first.
* Added one more pipe to Bowser's Mountain 1 to make a jump with a turn block bridge easier.
* It's now easier to jump to the secret exit pipe in Rotten Ruins 2.
* Replaced the blue Shade near the start of Abandoned Mine 3 with a falling platform, since you could get stuck if Mario were to kill it with a cape spin. Also removed some sprite solid block columns in the same level, and also replaced a set of sprite solid blocks with ! blocks in the part with the one tile holes, and finally, made a box of sprite solid blocks just before the midway bigger to make a jump easier.
* Swapped a few ON/OFF blocks with their opposite versions in Abandoned Mine 2 and Rotten Ruins 2 (passable to solid and vice versa).
* Extended a ledge in Abanoned Mine A by a tile to the right to make a jump easier.
* Increased the time limit of Pumpkin Fields 4 to 400 seconds. This was suggested by N450 back in 2019, the day after demo 1 was released.
* Removed the green ! blocks in the part with the first rising platform in Rotten Ruins 4 to prevent getting the cape before reaching Abandoned Mine.
* Added autosave, now you don't have to worry about getting back to the most recent save point when you get a game over. You can also manually save when you press Select.
* Replaced a column of sprite solid blocks in a part shortly after the midway of Bowser's Mountain 2 with cement blocks and made another column smaller in the same part.
* Made a platform of ON/OFF blocks shortly after the midway of Forbidden Forest 2 wider to make getting the Koopa shell easier.
* Fixed Dry Bowser's Castle level name to refer to his Portuguese name in the Portuguese version.

V1.0.1 (22/10/2022):

* Added 2 more cobwebs to Castle #3.
* Fixed a small cutoff with the water in the Rotten Ruins part of the main map.
* Added "RE" text to the pipe in the sublevel of Abandoned Mine 1 to let the player know it can be used to reset the room.
* Corrected the name of the reskinned Thwomp in the Castle #4 message. They are actually anchors, not axes.
* Fixed a grammar error (missing accent) in one of the messages of Pumpkin Fields 1 in the Portuguese version. This was reported by AntonioDosGames.
* Translated "COURSE CLEAR!" in the Portuguese version, which I forgot to do. This was reported by AntonioDosGames.
* Improved the comma in the "MARIO/LUIGI START!" messages in the Portuguese version.
* Slightly edited the setence about the sprite solid blocks in the message of Abandoned Mine 3 in the Portuguese version.
* Moved the "TIME" graphic text a pixel to the right in the Portuguese version.

V1.0 (21/10/2022):

* Pumpkin Fields 4 no longer has water around its level tile on the overworld. This was reported by AntonioDosGames.
* Replaced the Eeries in Abandoned Mine A with a disassembly version made by Ersanio. This was done to fix a graphical error with them, because the level also uses note blocks. Also fixed a double colored pipe in the same level. This was reported by all 3 beta testers: AntonioDosGames, ForthRightMC and N450 (for the second beta tester, it was only the glitched Eeries).
* Fixed item memory on all sublevels. This was reported by N450.
* Removed earthquake sequence after clearing Abandoned Mine 3. This was reported by AntonioDosGames.
* Moved two coins up a tile near the start of Bowser's Mountain 1.
* Added a special *34 icon in the title screen when finding all exits.
* Changed the BTG shoutout of the message in Pumpkin Fields A, since Darby and Lair don't actually hate the Zombie Hammer Bro., they were just scared of it.
* Fixed a palette error with the bridge where Pumpkin Fields 3 is located in the overworld. This was reported by N450.
* Slightly edited the secret exit room of Forbidden Forest 2, since it was possible to cheese it. This was suggested by N450.
* Moved the checkpoint entrance of Forbidden Forest 3 five tiles to the right. This was suggested by N450.
* Removed a converyor belt in Castle #2, where it was possible to slide kill a Grinder, resulting in a glitched sprite showing up. This was suggested by N450.
* Slightly changed a part in the midway of Rotten Ruins 2. Also replaced a part with ON/OFF blocks with cloud blocks in the same level. This was suggested by N450.
* You now don't have to duck in Green Switch, this is to make the 1-up easier to get. This was suggested by N450.
* Made a pit shortly after the midway of Rotten Ruins 3 smaller, to make that jump not harder if you're not small. This was suggested by N450.
* Added pipes on a part of Abandoned Mine 1 where a falling platform is between two cannons to prevent life farming. This was suggested by N450.
* You can now enter the pipe of the secret exit room of Abandoned Mine 1 to reset the room in case you lose the key. This was suggested by N450.
* Replaced the semisolid bridge just after the midway of Abandoned Mine 3 with a donut bridge to remove a shortcut. Also removed the wooden blocks in the path where you go to the green star block. This was suggested by N450.
* Moved two sprite solid blocks to be just above of the lava, near the start of Castle #4. This was suggested by N450.
* Changed some parts in Dry Bowser's Castle to try to fix slowdown. This was reported by N450.
* The bonus sublevels of Bowser's Mountain 1 and 2 are now sky themed, and the music on those room was replaced by Il Maniero Spettrale - Mansion (Reversed). This was suggested by N450. A pit was also added to the former room.
* Fixed missing cluster sprites when coming back from the bonus sublevels in Forbidden Forest 1, Forbidden Forest 3, Forbidden Forest A and Bowser's Mountain 2.
* Replaced the music in Bowser's Mountain 2 with Donkey Kong Country 2 - Flight of the Zinger (unsampled port by Maxodex).
* Slightly updated the message just before the Dry Bowser battle to refer to him instead of normal Bowser.
* Added a Tools section to the credits.
* Moved the Boo in Ruins Ghost House down a tile in the overworld.
* Removed info on how to kill the Doppelshrooms in the first message of Forbidden Forest 2.

Beta 1.0 (16/10/2022):

* Added worlds 4 and 5. The hack is now complete.
* Changed the Presents graphic text to English.
* New graphics for Thwomps, Thwimps and Magikoopas.
* Added more cobwebs to the levels. This is only for cave, ghost house and castle levels.
* Updated the intro screen text for some clarity. It also now refers to Dry Bowser being the one who stole the candies, instead of normal Bowser.
* Added the "Happy Halloween!" text to the overworld border and removed the sides to make it widescreen.
* Changed the color of the exit signs of ghost house exits.
* Replaced the Effect Tool brightness HDMA gradient (used in cave, ghost house and castle levels) with a new version that properly works with the mosaic fade transition by MarioFanGamer.
* Added the message box and course clear HDMA hex edit fixes, to make the darkness gradient not disappear upon hitting a message block and when the iris out shows up after clearing a level on a level with that gradient.
* Disabled the No Yoshi intro from earlier castle and ghost house levels.
* Changed the world 4 map theme to Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire - Eternal Sunshine by Dispace. The previous song is now in the secret level of the same world.
* Replaced the Pokémon Gold/Silver/Crystal - Sprout Tower port with a newer one by Segment1Zone2.
* Overworld songs now don't speed up anymore if you exit a level with the time below 100 seconds.
* Added the following 3 patches:
* Widescreen Overworld: This was necessary to fix a visual glitch in the sides when moving between worlds 1 to 2, worlds 2 to 3 and worlds 3 to 4, since the sides in the overworld border were removed;
* Moving Ledge Hole Sprite Fix: This is to make it easier to jump up to a solid ledge with a moving hole sprite. This applies to both Mario and thrown items;
* Level Depending On Event: This is to redirect the house level at the start of the game to a duplicate of the same level with candies in the table after beating the game.
* Updated the lightning UberASM to now flash randomly instead of waiting 7 seconds then every 3 seconds.
* Moved Mario's midway entrance in Castle #2 two tiles to the right.
* Moved a pillar in Ruins Ghost House one tile to the left.
* Added a table to the house, and moved the message block two tiles to the right.
* Nerfed a few parts in Castles #2 and #3.
* Added clouds to submaps (worlds 2, 4 and 5).
* Removed shading from the letters used some places like the file select and the save prompt to make them more readable.
* Removed 2 Pumpkin Plants in Pumpkin Fields 3.
* Fixed Doppelshroom's colors and death frame.
* Fixed the palette of cement blocks in a Rotten Ruins sublevel.
* Changed a part in Forbidden Forest 1 to prevent Mario being able to be killed by jumping into the moving hole while below the ceiling.
* The sublevel of Rotten Ruins 4 is now accessible.

Demo 3.0 (26/10/2021):

* Added world 3.
* The jump sound is now accurate to the original game.
* Replaced the ON/OFF blocks in castle #1 with the bounceless version used on later levels.
* Events now reveal faster.
* The Boo sprite in the world 3 map has been moved from the second level to the third level.
* Replaced the following 4 ports:
* Shin Megami Tensei - Castle of the Four Gods, with The Addams Family: Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt - Icebox by qantuum. The old music is now in the final castle level.
* Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins - Pumpkin Zone, with the sampled light version by Gamma V.
* Super Mario RPG - Beware the Forest's Mushrooms, with Tiny Toon Adventures (NES) - Haunted Forest by Gamma V.
* Final Fantasy VI - Phantom Forest, with the unsampled version by Nameless.

* Big Boo battle rooms: Extended the right stone to the left by 1 tile, made the ceilings identical in size in all rooms, and removed spikes from the first battle room.
* World 2 cave bonus areas are now gray.
* Changed the gray palette to improve the palette of the cement blocks in some bonus areas and in Forbidden Forest 2.
* Added some more decoration to 2 bonus areas of world 2.
* Fixed sleepy enemy's squished sprite.
* Fixed Bonus end fanfare's ending. I can't find a good song to replace it, so the vanilla fanfare will stay in use for now.
* Added darkness HDMA to the bonus area in Forbidden Forest A.
* Fixed mushroom and 1-up mushroom colors, allowing you to tell the difference between them. In various levels, they won't be as detailed as the vanilla sprite, and in some levels the normal mushroom will have the very desaturated red.
* Rewrote the message about the bouncy mushrooms in Pumpkin Fields 3.
* Replaced two turn blocks after the midway in Forbidden Forest A with a multi coin question block and a flower block.

Demo 2.0.1 (21/10/2020):

* Forbidden Forest 1, End of Demo 2 and Unimplemented! are now revealed with layer 1 events, so they don't temporarily show up in the incorrect maps.

Demo 2 (16/10/2020):

* New title screen logo.
* Added world 2 levels and world 4 map.
* Made the palettes in the world 2 map more varied.
* Altered the message about the Zombie Hammer Bro. in Pumpkin Fields A.
* Replaced the boss music with the Boss Bossanova theme from Donkey Kong Country 2. The older boss music (Super Metroid - Mother Brain) is now used in the final battle against Dry Bowser.
* Replaced the boss clear music with the All Clear theme from the first Castlevania.
* Added goal whistle and death sound effects to the course clear and death songs.
* Updated the The Simpsons: Hit & Run - CELL-OUTS port.
* The jump sound effect now sounds closer to the original.

* Multiple Songs on Main Map: This is so world 3 can have its own theme on the main map;
* Moving Castle Block Offscreen Handling Fix; this is to make the castle moving block not be processed when offscreen, avoiding waste of sprite slots;
* Removed the Eeries from the first Big Boo battle. They have been moved to the world 2 boss.
* Fixed bonus game room being able to scroll horizontally.
* Fixed sprites disappearing in Yellow Switch. The level was using sprite header 10 but I haven't applied NMTSL.
* Added cobwebs to castle #1 and all bonus rooms in world 1.
* Changed the music of Pumpkin Fields 4.
* Fixed misplaced Piranha Plant in the bonus room of Pumpkin Fields 4.
* Added key icon to level names of levels with a secret exit.
* Fixed ON/OFF switch being black when off in underground bonus rooms.
* Fixed Yellow Switch not destroying and not making the save prompt not automatically appearing due to the level not being set as a no auto-move level.
* Added and changed ? blocks at the midway point of Pumpkin Fields 1, Pumpkin Fields 4 and near the beginning of #1 Castle so it has a flower instead of a coin.
* Added a Boo sprite to the overworld somewhere in world 3.
* Replaced the Nintendo Presents sound with the girl giggling sound used in Five Nights at Freddy's, that plays when Golden Freddy is triggered.
* Added message blocks to Pumpkin Fields 1 explaining the item box priority fix and the SMB3 powerdown.
* Fixed bonus game playing no music.
* Remade all world 1 overworld events.
* Reskinned 5 more enemies: Spiny, Spiny Egg, Grinder, Bowser Statue, Pipe-dwelling Lakitu.
* Fixed unedited Chuck tile.
* The tricky jump with a Grinder was changed with an easier setup with a falling platform.
* Moved the goal of Pumpkin Fields 3 to a separate sublevel because the thunder flash can show up during the goal fade sequence.
* Made the part with the flying ? block in Pumpkin Fields A easier.
* Made the first platform with a Zombie Hammer Bro. wider to reduce the chances of it falling in Pumpkin Fields A.
